City Break in Nice

Holidays in Nice

Nice is one of France’s premier beach resorts. Once a hideaway of the rich and famous it still remains a top class destination. With palm lined promenades and pebbles beaches it is easy to see what attracted royalty to the French Riviera. This is a quaint and charming city which is surrounded by beauty in the hills around and in the city itself. Take the time to discover the real Nice!

Wander through the narrow streets of Old Nice to discover some great little shops, small cafes and fashionable bars. Visit the pretty churches with their Baroque architecture or drop into the auditorium to see some opera. Leave the narrow streets behind you and visit the boats and yachts of the port. Here seafood restaurants serve up regional specialities and are popular with the locals.

About Nice

Nice is the capital of the French Riviera and sits on the Mediterranean coast. Home to just under 1 million people it is one of the most popular destinations in the south of France. This is the fifth largest city in France and it is only beaten by Paris in the popularity stakes.

This is the place to come for some glitz and glamour not to mention top class hotels and restaurants. The tree lined Promenade des Anglais is instantly recognisable from the brochure photos and is a pleasant place to go for a stroll. The hill at Cimiez which overlooks Nice is a fashionable place to live. Here you can find Roman baths and amphitheatres and a museum housing works by Matisse.

Nice Attractions

Tourists flock to Nice for its warm sunny weather, luxury hotels, prime location and simple elegance. This is a French city which has a certain je ne sais quoi about it. Head to the Matisse museum on Cimiez hill if you are crazy about art or just enjoy the view over the city. Sip coffee in a street side café and watch the world go by or laze about on the beach or in one of the many parks. Nice is now an affordable yet fashionable and trendy destination.

Nice Weather

Like most Mediterranean resorts Nice is at its best at the height of summer between the months of June and August. For good weather and less people you should try and visit between the months of May and June and also the month of September. In the winter Nice gets cool and there is often rain. During the spring and autumn temperatures can also be on the chilly side.
